Although Medimetal initially set out to develop and manufacture products for human medicine, the company gradually began to face demand for veterinary orthopedic implants as well. Accordingly, besides our core business in human medicine, we began to ship veterinary plates first to the United Kingdom in 2003 and a few years later to the United States of America and Hungary as well, in which we have accumulated twenty years of segment specific experience.
Products are developed in close cooperation with Hungarian, US and British veterinary partners; while manufacturing relies on solid human medicine foundations: the required high quality is guaranteed by the technology developed for the manufacture of human implants, human medicine standard raw materials and the same world-class machinery and equipment.

OUR PRODUCT RANGE
TPLO PLATE FAMILY
Medimetal’s principal veterinary technique is the TPLO (tibial plateau leveling osteotomy) fixation, a surgical technique developed in the US in the 90s for treating the instability caused by the rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in dogs.
TPLO is the best existing treatment for stabilising the knee joint. It changes the knee’s biomechanics, restoring the joint’s stability without actually replacing the ligament. In other words, no foreign ligament replacement material is introduced into the joint, which might rupture subsequently again.
Our wide range of TPLO plates includes Y shape-, Y shape multipurpose-, universal-, pre-contoured-, moon shaped-, standard- and slocum TPLO plate types.
TPLO plates are manufactured both in polyaxial and compression version:
- In case of polyaxial plating locking fixation can be achieved within a maximum 30° (i.e. +/-15°) angle deflection range.
- In case of compression plating compressing force can be applied on the bone surface with the help of the holes, facilitating faster healing.
Fitting screws: in case of compression plates 2,0 – 3,5 mm cortical screws, in case of polyaxial plates 2,0 – 4,0 mm locking head screws.
Some plates are available in low contact form as well, to help maintain blood circulation in the bone.
UNIVERSAL PLATES
Our universal plates are manufactured for treating a variety of bone fractures (humerus, radius, metacarpus, femur, tibia and tarsus). We offer solutions for fixing broken bones from the smallest ones to the largest long bones in the form of mini cuttable plates through stronger types, in various lengths.
The product range includes mini-, cuttable mini-, small self-compression-, self-compression-, reconstruction-, L-, Acetabular-, T-, double T-, Arthodesis- and TPO 3.5 plates.
Universal plates are manufactured both in polyaxial and compression version.
Some universal plates are available in low contact form as well, to help maintain blood circulation in the bone.
Fitting screws: in case of compression plates 1,5 – 3,5 mm cortical screws, in case of polyaxial plates 2,0 – 3,5 mm locking head screws.
