The Trochanter Z and Z light nailing is primarily developed for the surgical treatment of trochanteric fractures and certain cases of femoral neck fractures. The system combines the biomechanical advantages of both traditional dynamic hip screw fixation and intramedullary nailing.

The Trochanter Z nails are more robust nails and primarily recommended for regions where people typically have thicker bone structures.

Due to the extensive range of lengths and diameters of the nails, they offer an excellent surgical alternative for upper third femur fractures and even cases combined with upper shaft fractures. An essential component of the system is the introduction of a dynamic screw into the femoral neck. The dynamic screw is capable of compressing the fracture while behaving dynamically during the healing process. For more porous bone, instead of a dynamic screw a blade (in case of Z light nail) or a spiral blade (in case of Z nail) is an option. In this case, instead of pre-drilling into the cancellous bone, we allow the spongy bone to be compressed by the blade/spiral blade in order to provide greater stability within the femoral head. To prevent postoperative rotation of the hip screw, a fixing screw placed inside the nail ensures stability.

The targeting device is made from a radiolucent material.

The system offers nails for variable CCD hole positions at 125°, 130°, and 135°. The anatomical fit ensures easy insertion. The long nails are anatomically curved and can be ordered separately for the right and left femurs.

Both stainless steel and titanium alloy material options are available.
